Blackheads
Blackheads (aka congestion) are when a pore becomes clogged with skin cells, oil and debris. Squeezing can damage the skin by making the surrounding skin less elastic and leaving hyperpigmented spots. Instead keep your pores clear with a combo of AHAs, BHAs, mediscrub and retinoids.
How we treat
Normal skin sheds dead skin cells, oil and other debris naturally. But in skin prone to blackheads this shedding process is impaired.

Wash Your Face thoroughly.
What you apply to your skin must come off. If not, it’s likely getting trapped in your pores. That includes heavy moisturisers, sunscreen, makeup, and general dirt, or grime from your environment. Oil attracts oil, so we recommend an oil based cleansing routine.

Unclog pores with salicylic
Salicylic acid is an oil-soluble BHA, meaning it penetrates deep into the pores, breaking up dead skin cells and clearing congestion.AHA/BHA serums are gentle ways to purify the pores. Fine medicated scrubs don’t scratch the skin either but avoid harsh scrubs which can cause inflammation.

Reduce oil flow
Vitamin B is brilliant for this. Also apply a clay mask which absorbs excess oil on the skin without drying it out. Apply straight after exfoliating to maximise its benefits.

Don’t squeeze
Save extractions for the professionals so you don’t damage your skin. When you squeeze the skin surrounding the pores becomes more lax and therefore the pores can’t spring back when empty. Opt for AHABHAs which are best for unclogging pores.
