Barosma Betulina Leaf Extract:
A plant-derived ingredient high in the active molecule diosmin which has been shown to inhibit sebocyte differentiation and decrease lipogenesis (oil production) in the oil gland. The active ingredient diosmin, a potent flavonoid from the leaves of Barosma betulina modulates APN action, providing a target for regulating oil production.

Barosma betulina:
Inhibition of sebocyte differentiation decreases sebum production, leading to refined pores with a matte appearance.

Betaine:
Betaine facilitates fibroblast growth collagen production and works in synergy with glycerine to increase hydration in the skin. Betaine occurs naturally in our own body including skin and hair. The skin cells accumulate betaine actively during the dehydration and UV-radiation. Betaine is called an osmoprotectant as it controls the right water balance of the cell without interfering with normal cellular processes. It can also counteract chemical and mechanical skin irritants.

Hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate):
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural moisturising factor (NMF) found in the deeper skin layers. Referred to nature’s ‘super moisturiser’, this substance is able to hold 1000 times its weight in water and is applied topically to deeply hydrate by constantly attracting moisture to skin. This plumps the skin and temporarily reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and helps to provide a barrier of protection for the skin. It is a widely used cosmeceutical for increasing hydration and reversing cell damage.

HA promotes wound healing in a number of ways. It is an integral component of the extracellular matrix and plays a key role in creating the perfect environment for facilitating the motility and migration of the cells required for the reepithelialisation process into granulation tissue. This includes the proliferation and migration of the basal keratinocyte cells into the wound space.

HA can form a complex with reactive oxygen species and reduce the toxicity of free radicals. It also displays antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. HA has the ability to nourish and promote youthful characteristics via deep dermal hydration and visible skin plumping

Sodium Lactate:
Found naturally in top layers of the skin, sodium lactate makes up part of the protective barrier which keeps our skin supple and hydrated. Due to over cleaning and harsh cleansing agents the skin can lose its barrier leading to a tight feeling and flaky skin.

Sodium lactate can correct these problems as it attracts and retains water back into the skin and offers superior hydration without adding additional oils. It also has the ability to reduce the bacteria on the skin which can lead to congestion and breakouts.

Bearberry Leaf Extract:
This botanical ingredient extracted from the leaves of the Uva Ursi shrub, with a natural ability to reduce the appearance of uneven skin tone that may be caused by blemishes.
